Day 25 | First Day of Nutrition Class

We headed over to Chiputula Elementary at 8:00 to start teaching. Tiffany and Jade taught three Standard 5 (5th grade) classes in the morning and four classes in the afternoon. Each class was 30-35 minutes and they reviewed the different food groups (fruits, vegetables, fats and oils, food from animals, legumes and nuts and staples) and nutrition groups (fats, carbohydrates, minerals, vitamins, proteins and water). The students and teachers really enjoyed the lesson and matching activity and the students were really excited to participate.  Miku and Penny taught six Standard 6 (6th grade) in the morning and afternoon. They also reviewed materials taught in Standard 5, the three classifications of foods, food groups and nutrient groups. Their students were also very engaged in the lesson and the teachers enjoyed the class.

After teaching in the afternoon, we all went home at different times to finish typing our curriculum and prepare the materials for our next classes. Tiffany and Jade prepared materials for a food pairing activity and Penny and Miku prepared their materials to talk about hypertension and diabetes.
